Halloween is upon us and I am here to tell you that Halloween doesn’t have to be cancelled. I’ve teamed up with Shindigz to show you how we can be both Safe & Spooky this Halloween and still give our kids what they want….Trick or Treating!
I love the new Sweet & Spooky décor line this year. It’s full of bright colors and so many cute aspects that make it so easy to pull together a complete look. Numerous options for different yard signs and lawn cutouts, table top-its and fun ghosts to hang from your trees. In order to keep up with social distancing guidelines I used some window clings and taped them to the ground spacing them 6 feet apart. I set up a Photo Boooo-th in the drive using a plastic tablecloth as a backdrop and a fun balloon garland with bat and pumpkin cutouts. You could easily cover your garage door with plastic tablecloths to offer this on Halloween night for all your neighbors to come up one by one and snap a photo of their little ghoul.
I decorated the front lawn with different signs and pumpkin cutouts and ghosts hung from the trees. Another fun garland using the traditional Halloween colors mixed in with some fun not so traditional colors served as the wow factor for the front porch.
When it came to the actual trick or treating, instead of having the kids come up to the doorbell and ring or knock I set up a Trick or Treat Table on the walkway. The window clings on the ground led you right up to it from the end of the driveway. By utilizing the table it also allows you to keep your distance from the kids by providing a bit of a barrier when handing out the candy. The Sweet & Spooky line has fun water bottle labels and coordinating wine labels which I’m sure the moms would appreciate. Another new product in the line up is the customized hand sanitizer bottles.
The kids lined up on their markers and took turns coming up to the table to get their treats. Normally I let the kids reach into the bucket and grab their own treats but a safer way to do it this year is for you to hand out the candy and take time to sanitize your hands every few treaters. You can also lay the treats out individually spaced out so that they can grab one themselves like I did with these custom candy bars. If masks are required in your area then make it fun for the kids and coordinate it with their costume. A fun rainbow masks to go with a unicorn costume or color coordinate it like I did with the black mask for the Queen Bee. Or even choose a costume that covers your face completely like we did with the homemade ghost. Stay safe & spooky everyone & Happy Halloween!
